Constructing a Platform Bed Frame
A platform bed can offer a modern, simple look for your bedroom. Aside from this, it also offers firm back support. Constructing your own is also an economical project and can cost less than a 64 British pounds to be completed. This figure can be lowered when one uses recycled lumber. This article contains instructions on how to go about this home improvement endeavour.
Start by cutting or having the lumber yard cut your wood to these measurements: one 4×8 foot sheet particle board cut to 40×76 inches, (4) 1×12s cut to 28 inches, (4) 1X12s cut to 62 1/2 inches, (2) 1×4s cut to 40 inches, and (2) 1×4s cut to 77 1/2 inches. These dimensions will hold a twin size mattress.
If you want to join two pieces of particle board together for a full size or larger bed, attach them from the underside with straight metal straps. Half of this will form the top of the platform while the other half makes the bottom portion. Make sure to sand any rough edges on the lumber before building the base frame.
